In a major announcement, Warner Bros. chief Kevin Tsujihara has confirmed that Ben Affleck, who essayed the role of the Dark Knight in the recently released "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice", will be directing a stand-alone movie revolving around Batman.

According to reports, the CEO and chairman of the studio made the announcement on Tuesday in Las Vegas, where Ben was also present with Amy Adams, his co-star from the superhero movie. Tsujihara affirmed that they are moving forward with the project, which is a part of Warner Bros. plans to extend the cinematic universe of DC Comics.

However, no further details were announced and there was no mention of the timeline as well. Even Ben did not make any announcement regarding the project and stuck to his thanksgiving speech to the theater exhibitors for the success of his recent flick.

It is worth mentioning here that the attempt of Warner Bros. is similar to that of Disney and Marvel collaboration who have capitalized on the charisma of their superheroes to make more successful films. At present, Warner Bros. has around 10 films under its wings, which include Wonder Woman, Justice League and Suicide Squad among others. The last two has Affleck portraying the Caped Crusader.

Remarkably, the event saw Warner Bros. dwelling a good deal on these sci-fi movies, during their presentation, which means the studio has not lost any enthusiasm after the reported lukewarm performance of its dream project "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice".

According to reports, Affleck starrer Justice League is currently under production in London and Ben said that he would be joining the team along with Amy Adams very soon. He is set to reprise the role of the Dark Knight in the 2017 as well as 2019 film series.

Notably, Affleck has tried his hand in direction before. The star made his directorial debut in 2007 with Gone Baby Gone which brought him good reviews. He followed up with The Town (2010) and Argo (2012) with the latter getting him trophies at the BAFTA and Academy awards.
