Despite possessing one of the best attacking front three in the world of football, Barcelona have often found it tough to replicate the same level of quality in central defence and according to reports, it seems that is all set to be corrected in the summer, if the club is able to agree on a transfer fee for Paris Saint Germain's Brazilian defender Marquinhos. Marquinhos, who is unhappy at the way in which his playing time has been curtailed at the Paris based club is looking for a way out and has agreed personal terms with Barcelona, which could see him play in the heart of the Catalan club's defence next season.

According to Goal.com, Barcelona has offered the defender a big jump in annual salary that will see him earning £3.6 million a year if a transer fee is agreed with PSG. In addition to that, the defender has also been offered a signing on bonus of £2.4 million on top of the hugely improved salary. Considering the fact that they have already agreed personal terms with the player, the only thing that could scupper the deal is PSG's refusal to part ways with the player who joined them from Roma in 2013 for a fee of around £25 million.

The report states that Barcelona has placed a bid of around £36 million for the player and are willing to raise the stakes to around £40 million, however the Parisian club is not interested in the offers and are going to do everything in their power to keep the defender at the club. PSG is not a club that needs to make money from transfers considering their reputation as one of the financial giants in European football and hence Barcelona would probably need to place a higher bid if they are to tempt the powers that be at the Parisian club. However, there have been rumours that Marquinhos is not happy regarding his situation at PSG and if he puts in a transfer request then the situation might change quickly.
