Former Real Madrid manager Jose Mourinho could find himself back in the hot seat at the Santiago Bernabau this summer if latest reports regarding his future are to be believed. The Real Madrid hierarchy are not happy with the team's show in the UEFA Champions League first leg match against Wolfsburg in which the Zinedine Zidane managed team crashed to a 0-2 defeat and are now considering the prospect of appointing Mourinho as their full time manager it the team fails to make an unlikely comeback in the second leg in Madrid.

Real Madrid has struggled with results ever since replacing their Champions League winning manager Carlo Ancelotti with Rafa Benitez. Benitez was sacked mid season and replaced with former player Zinedine Zidane. However, it is importnat to point out that prior to appointing Zidane, the club had got in touch with Mourinho's representatives but failed to persuade the former Chelsea manager to join the club he had quit in 2013.

According to most sources, Jose Mourinho is intent on taking over as manager of Manchester United but the hesitancy of the English club in finalising his appointment could make 'The Special One' change his mind. Ed Woodward, the Manchester United chief executive is rumoured to be in favour of retaining the present manager Louis van Gall and despite reports suggesting that the club has already reached an agreement with Mourinho, the club has not reached a verdict. In such a situation, Mourinho might decide to cut his losses and take over as the manager of Real Madrid for the second time in his career, if the powers that be at the club decide to appoint a new manager.

However, it should be noted that Mourinho's representatives have informed Real Madrid that he expects the Red Devils to appoint him as their manager and has not committed to anything till now. Real Madrid President Florentino Perez is however still hopeful of bringing back the manager under whom the club won their last La Liga title and if the Manchester United board members continue to dither over the appointment, then Mourinho could head back to Madrid.
