Over the majority of this season there has been speculation that Manchester United is going to replace Louis Van Gaal with a new manager at some point and the one name that has been consistently linked with the job is that of former Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho. And now that link has been given a degree of credence following a tweet from well connected Spanish Guillem Balague stating that the Jose Mourinho to Manchester United is a done deal.

The journalist, who often appears on Sky Sports programmes, tweeted, "On Mou. His people say all done with United. Most football people think all done too. MUFC say no decision made. Lvg thinks he's staying." 'Lvg' in that tweet stands for Louis Van Gaal, the current Manchester United manager, who has had a torrid time on the hot seat at Old Trafford this season following a string of uninspiring results. United have had a troubled season in which they have been knocked out of all cup competitions amid unrest among the fanbase who seem fed up of the sterile football that the team has been made to play under Louis Van Gaal and to add to that, they are also in danger of finishing outside of the UEFA Champions League places.

In such a scenario, it is only natural that the club are looking at other options and Jose Mourinho, who is rumoured to have been after the Manchester United job for many years, seems to be the candidate that has been chosen as the successor to the Dutchman. According to reports that surfaced in January of this year, Jose Mourinho had written six letter to the powers that be at Manchester United outlining his vision for the club and what he aims to do if he is given the job. Lastly, other options which included the likes of Pep Guardiola and Carlo Ancelotti are now non exsistent, since both of them have signed up with new clubs and Mourinho is the only high profile manager who is currently in search of a new club. It all points to a new managerial announcement at Old Trafford in the summer.
