All about the new NuvoSport from Mahindra

Mahindra have finally decided to replace its aging Quanto with a new model. Call it NuvoSport. Although this boldly named model has some stiff competition to face, the NuvoSport's offering a competitive pricing and comfortable and spacious interiors.

In terms of design, the NuvoSport looks far sportier and designed better compared to the old Quanto since it's completely redesigned at front-end. It includes the signature Mahindra grille design with vertical slats, a large bonnet scoop which is a first timer in this segment and flared wheel arches. The lights are however positioned at an odd-spot looking out of space. Nevertheless, the 16-inch alloy wheels and the tailgate-mounted spare wheel adds more to the street presence. There aren't any major changes inside in overall designs since Mahindra have retained most of Quanto's dashboard though there are some all-new instrument cluster and the infotainment system.

Like all new Mahindra models, the NuvoSport is loaded with the standard equipment in top-spec variants including a 6.2-inch touchscreen Infotainment system, ECO/power mode, cruise control, driver information system and electrically operated mirrors. More importantly, dual airbags and ABS with EBD are available as optional from base variant while they are standard from mid variant ABS with EBD. The NuvoSport also features side intrusion beams for better occupant safety. The cabin with 7 seats is quite flexiblewith 60:40 split for the rear seats. Additionally, the tiny seats in the third row can be folded down to allowing the second row seats to recline. The boot space is at 412 liters which is impressive. NuvoSport packs in a 1.5-litre turbocharged diesel engine that delivers 100bhp of power and 240Nm of torque. The latter figure is the highest in this segment. Chassis wise, the NuvoSport is based on the latest-gen Scorpio platform. This ladder frame design has been re-tuned to offer better shock absorption. With prices starting at about Rs 7 plus lakh for the entry-level N4 variant, the NuvoSport is now enlisted for sales.
