Wii U users have been anxiously waiting for the arrival of iconic 'Legend of Zelda' series. The gestation of the popular title seemed long overdue with no exact release in sight despite an earlier announcement of the game's development three years ago. But if we were to trust the developers' assurance that game is nearing completion, then a release this year is probably looming on the horizon.

As reported by Vine Report game producer Eiji Aonuma has recently revealed that the game has made significant progress over the years and that he is currently working on the text title for the forthcoming Wii U console game.

But there are also other concerns that the slated 2016 may be postponed next year to make way for another title 'Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess HD' as the company tries to wrap up the finishing details ahead of a grand launching brimming with high expectations after years of silence.

If Aonuma and the whole team working on the new Zelda installment complete their work within a more reasonable timeframe this year, Nintendo might make their big announcement at the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) 2016- an annual video game conference held at Los Angeles Convention Center along with the industry's other big names as reported by Gospel Herald.

Another highly anticipated public announcement that fans have been waiting for years to hear would be the unveiling of Nintendo NX, the next generation console that is rumored to succeed Wii U. If this would be the case, then observers are expecting two separate versions of the game on two different platforms.

Meanwhile, retro custom console designer Analogue came up with a limited 24-karat gold collectible edition of the famed vintage Nintendo console that comes with the original classic copy of 'The Legend of Zelda' game in cartridge to commemorate the title's 30th anniversary that costs a whopping $4, 999 according to a report by Tech Times.
