Drew Barrymore and her husband of three years, Will Kopelman, are separating reports confirm.

"Sadly our family is separating legally, although we do not feel this takes away from us being a family," the pair said in a statement. "Divorce might make one feel like a failure, but eventually you start to find grace in the idea that life goes on.

The 41-year-old actor and her 38-year-old art consultant husband said their daughters are priority. Even as sources close to the couple said they are working out living arrangements for their children, Drew was spotted in Los Angeles.

Barrymore has said in the past that she loves to watch her husband fathering their daughters but admitted it was not love at first sight for them.

"It was never really love at first sight," the actor had said. "Will struck a lot of my pragmatic sides. He was someone who was always reachable on the phone, someone who was a classy human being, someone who has this incredible blueprint of a family that I don't have."

Barrymore was married twice before, to a bar owner for two months and actor-comedian Tom Green for six months before the split. She has spoken about her troubled childhood and was reportedly against breaking the marriage for the sake of her daughters. However, differences including the location of a home for their family reportedly drove the couple apart.

The couple's daughters Olive and Frankie are aged three and one respectively.
