Final Fantasy XV's demo: Hands-on

Platinum Demo, the new free demo for Final Fantasy XV, is more of a showcase of the game than an actual game-play.

Its purpose is to show players that the final game development is now complete and almost ready to be published. The demo displays impressive play of light and shadow across Noctis' face as he moves into the dreamscape. It looks brilliant.

The game is so clear that the crystals glimmer radioactively and even every dimple can be seen when zoomed-in.

You play as a child Noctis' who is deep asleep due to a grave injury. Some force is preventing from him waking up. Noctis must explore his dreams to find a way out of them and wake up. It's a standalone story that provides background and context for events referenced in the main game.

The demo events will be referred to the prequels one and give in the main game The creators felt it would be best to showcase Noctis and Carbuncle (a little creature who is a recurring summon in the main franchise) meeting. Square enix are trying to achieve about three main things with the platinum demo.

The first is to show off the way the game looks. The second is that the story and tie-ins. Thirdly and most importantly, it's an introduction to Final Fantasy XV's game mechanics including some light combat and driving capabilities along with some magic etc.

The Platinum demo offers more details on Noctis' childhood, his upbringing in the palace and his feeling in all those tender years. Combat in the game is in its final game-state and that'd be what you people would be getting in the final release as per the developer team.

Other than combat, there are some brief driving segments too. The driving controls are standard with go, break, back-up, turn and this is no racing game. It's a small insight of something you will presumably be doing a lot of in the main game of Final Fantasy XV.
