Telegram updates size of supergroups boosting it to 5000

Telegram last month hit 100 million monthly active users and alongside announced a bunch of updates for the app as well. The instant messaging service has now announced another update, focusing on the Super groups feature. In their blog, they mentioned about how faming they're for group chats.

They are now adding an update where they've increased the number of people who can join a super group from 1000 to 5000 members about as good as five times. Supergroup admins can now inform all their members about this important news using pinned messages. Pinned messages are displayed at the top of the group-chat screen and every member of the group irrespective of types of notification information applied, would get it.

Which means even if you muted ordinary messages, you'd still get notified. A new feature also has been added where supergroups can become public by generating short url where anybody can view the group's entire chat history and join to post messages.

They've also added preventive measures to restrict spamming with powerful moderation tools for group admins. They can now quickly delete all messages from a member, or even block and report them. Right now these features only currently work in supergroups, but starting today, any group could be created into a super group by the creator of the group.

Last month, telegram provided users with ability to edit their messages after sending them. However, time's limited and you can only edit it within a short span of time before they've been posted.
