Barely four months since its release in the market, fourth generation Apple TV is getting a major facelift which comes with a slew of new products, updates, and improvements to existing features following an announcement by Tim Cook in during the March 21 event at its Cupertino headquarters.

Recent upgrades are intended to ease the use of the streaming device. To make this possible, Apple released tvOS 9.2 software update for the set-top TV box which is already available to users for download.

In a nutshell, the update provides a major fix to many problems that users often complain about. The changes are broadly categorize into three: improving text input associated with sign-in and set-up issues, cleaning up the home screen, and enhancing the ease of navigation as mentioned in a report by ARS Technica.

As stated by Consumer Reports, the following upgrades are expected from Apple TV 4's new software update:

1. Bluetooth Keyboard Support- Provided you have a Bluetooth keyboard, you can type as much as text as you can with fewer errors compared to the painstaking challenge of inputting text using the remote and an onscreen keyboard.

2. Siri Voice Command- The virtual digital assistant is capable of processing voice commands for content searches, navigation, and signing in credentials.

3. Folders- By grouping apps into appropriate folders, the home screen becomes neatly organized and decluttered.

4. Card-style Switching Between Apps- Streamlining apps in card-style interface improves multitasking experience and apps switching.

5. iCloud Photo Access- Apple TV now serves as a convenient digital photo album where you get to watch your iCloud pics (and videos) just like any other Apple devices.

One last thing, the new Apple TV comes with an onboard apps store with over 5, 000 apps available for download. During the event, Cook asserted once more that the 'future of TV' lies with apps as mentioned in a report by Fortune online magazine.
