The filming of The Maze Runner: The Death Cure is momentarily stopped as lead actor, Dylan O'Brien met an accident while on set in Vancouver, Canada and is seriously hurt.

"Dylan O'Brien was injured yesterday while filming Maze Runner: The Death Cure in Vancouver, Canada. He was immediately transferred to a local hospital for observation and treatment. Production on the film will be shut down while he recovers. Our thoughts go out to Dylan for a full and speedy recovery," the official statement for 20th Century Fox said.

The film company did not specify details of the accident but it was said that the actor suffered from 'multiple injuries and broken bones' after he was hit by a car. Another report said that the 24-year old actor 'fell off a set piece' and may have hurt his facial bones. Worse is that his injury could result to the 'fracturing his cheekbone or his orbital socket.'

With O'brien's accident, a lot of speculations rise up asking if the last movie installment can make it to their February 17, 2017 showing.

James Dashner, author of The Maze Runner books, appeased the audience saying that yes, because of the accident, 'production is postponed but certainly not cancelled. He added a rather caring note to the young actor saying "all that matters now is that Dylan recovers".

Wes Ball, the director of the trilogy also talks about feeling guilty for the actor's accident and assuring fans that he will get well in a Twitter post.

"Well, it's been a whirlwind of emotions these past few days. I've been overwhelmed with feelings of anger and sadness and guilt. But, ultimately I find myself left with just a deep love and respect for Dylan. He is one tough cookie," Ball said in his handwritten letter.

"I'm sorry for the grief this accident has caused his friends and family as well as my wonderful cast and crew. It's scary seeing your friend get hurt, but fortunately, Dylan is going to be just fine. After a few weeks of rest and recovery he'll be back up and running to finish our adventure together," he added.
