Rogue One: A Star Wars Story :Comics Will Be Released In October This Year

Marvel Comics is set to release a lead-in prequel comics series to the box office hit 'Star Wars' anthology franchise entitled "Rogue One: A Star Wars Story" introducing viewers to a new set of characters that are expected to appear in the next 'Star Wars' film.

The comic and entertainment giant revealed the news to the media during the Diamond Comics Retailer Breakfast prior to the Chicago Comic and Entertainment Expo (C2E2). The company also announced that there'll be 3 plus one issues for the series that will roll out in October.

The company, however, emphasized that the sole purpose of the comic book series is to provide fans with a lead-in prior to the film release as stated in a Tech Times report.

Aside from the facts mentioned above, no other details were released as to who will write the story or design the concept art for the miniseries. No clues were given whether classic characters such Darth Vader will appear in the highly anticipated lead-in comic books.

Rogue One: A Star Wars Story revolves around the group of resistance fighters who united to steal; the plans to the Death Star, the foundation on which Star Wars saga is based according to the Inquisitr.

Meanwhile, Movie News Guide reported that Disney had shown a number of trailers, video clips, and selected footage of the upcoming Disney movies (including Rogue One) were shown to shareholders in the recently concluded shareholders' meeting. Actors Felicity Jones, Diego Luna, and Donnie Yen reportedly appeared on the screened trailer.

But with scarce information on the comic-book form of the prequel to a prequel, fans and viewers are all stuck in the state of imagination wondering how the lead-in series will play out in the comic pages.

Directed by Gareth Edwards, Rogue One: A Star Wars (the movie) Story is due to hit the theaters on December 16 this year which serves as a prequel to Star Wars: A New Hope.
