2015 Grammy Nominations Announced: Sam Smith leads with Four Nods so far

This year, the nominations for the 57th Annual Grammy Awards will be announced throughout the day as opposed to the recent tradition of unveiling all of the nominees during a primetime concert.

In the first round, Pharrell Williams and Ed Sheeran revealed the nominees in several early categories, and so far, English singer-song writer, Sam Smith is dominating with four nods. Smith is nominated for best pop vocal album, best pop solo performance, best new artist and record of the year.

Big names, such as Iggy Azalea, Taylor Swift and Miley Cyrus also received nominations. When asked about the nominations, in general, Williams, who is nominated for best pop solo performance and best urban contemporary album, stated, "Very happy for Miley. Super happy for Beyoncé. A lot of great names. ... Ed. That's big."

Williams added, when asked why he and Sheeran appeared to quite low-key, "It's just super early and we're just trying not to geek out in front of everybody on national TV."

"This is my excited face," Sheeran chimed in according to USA TODAY.

The announcement was made on "CBS This Morning."

The full list will be revealed by 2 p.m. ET with the exception of the top prize: album of the year. The nominees for this category will be announced during the A Very Grammy Christmas special that will air tonight on CBS at 9 p.m. ET/PT. The one-hour special, with returning host, LL Cool J was taped on Nov. 18 at the Los Angeles' Shrine Auditorium and will have performances by Williams, Ariana Grande, Maroon 5 and Tim McGraw.
