In an awkward turn of events, Puerto Rico's Miss Universe 2016 representative Kristhielee Caride lost her title. She was stripped of her crown and has been replaced by Brenda Jimenez. The organization has announced that Brenda Jimenez is the new Miss Puerto Rico Universe 2016.

Brenda was the first finalist in the Miss Puerto Rico Universe contest held four months ago. She had represented Aguadilla and now will be representing the Caribbean island at the international platform.

The 24-year old Kristhielee has been informed by the officials of their decision which was taken in view of her unprofessional attitude. She had made an unsavory comment during an interview with a local newspaper and it did not go down well with the contest organizers.

She had told the newspaper that she did not love cameras. Desiree Lowry, the national director of Miss Universe Puerto Rico, was present at the conference and it was quite an embarrassing moment for her. She is reported to have said that he wanted the earth to swallow him.

According to reports, she was being indifferent towards her commitments and had cancelled several more media opportunities. This left the officials with no choice but to retire her as it was damaging the image of the country as well as the organization.

Meanwhile Ms. Caride has apologized for her behavior through a Facebook post and has said that it is quite sad that beauty queens are not exempt from having a bad day.

However, her replacement, Brenda Jimenez, who is a Biology and Sociology student, is elated at this fortuitous opportunity that has come her way. She said that she is extremely anxious and excited. The news has still not sunk in with her.

It is worth mentioning here that this is first of a kind in the history of Puerto Rico.
