The highly anticipated game 'The Legend of Zelda Wii U' will reportedly get a Western upgrade according to recent comments from its producer and series director Eiji Aonuma .

As mentioned in latest issue of Famitsu magazine, Aonuma appeared to have been very happy as reported on the recent progress made in the game's development. Interestingly, he hinted a possible western tweak to the game and inject something new as reported by IGN.

If his statements are of any indication, we'll probably expect a number of new elements introduced to the franchise.

"I think the base of our secret sauce has always been 'Ocarina of Time.' But this time, the change in flavor will be like going from Japanese food to Western style food. Perhaps, players will be surprised. Please look forward to it, because I think we'll be able to make 'something new' like 'Ocarina of Time' was," remarked Aonuma as stated in a Christian Today report.

With his metaphor of transitioning from 'Japanese food to Western-style food', Aonuma has just ignited a debated on what these changes could mean for the future direction of the game. His comments indicate an open-world shift for the new Zelda which means changes are inevitable in revolutionizing its unique play-style and story delivery.

"As we have worked to turn these possibilities into reality, new ideas have continued to spring forth, and it now feels like we have the potential to create something that exceeds my own expectations," said Aonuma as quoted in an Inquistr report.

As to its release date, it is said that 'The Legend of Zelda' Wii U will be released together with the Wii U version. Both games are slated to be available later this year. Aunoma, however, cannot give yet a specific date and had only said that his team are curerntly 'busy' working on it and are on the final stages of producing its complete form.
