5 Things You Didn't Know About Lee Sedol: Lee Beats AlphaGo for the First Time in Match 4

Finally Le Sedol has beaten the AI monster AlphaGo in match 4. Lee's irst victory came after three consecutive devastating loss against AlphaGo. Lee has lost the overall match since giving 3 games out of 5 already.

But Lee didn't give up and saved his faced from losing 5-0. Sedol, who was extremely happy looking after the game, saying the victory is priceless and he had hoped to win at least one round. (Alpha will donate 1 millioin dollars to Unicef etc instead of prize going to Lee sedol)

According to AlphaGo's team, the machine made an error beginning of the game, but didn't realize that it had done so until ten moves afterwards. AlphGo has resigned after 5 hours into the match.

South Korean commentator Song Taegon said " It seems Lee Sedol can now read AlphaGo better and has a better understanding of how AlphaGo moves. For the 5th match, it will be a far closer battle than before since we know each better. "

"This one win is so valuable and I will not trade this for anything in the world," said Lee, one of the best Go players in the world for the last decade.

 The defeat was a valuable learning expereicenc and would assist figuring out weaknesses in the program has to to be fixed and adjusted.

"It's a real testament to Mr Lee's incredible fighting spirit and he was able to play so brilliantly today after three defeats," he DeepMind founder Demis Hassabis said who also plays chess at very high level.

The last match will be on March 14th Monday 11pm Eastern Time. Lee said he wants to hold a black stone for the last game as he has already won holding the white stone.

1) Lee was born in South Korea in 1983 and studied at the Hanguk Kiwon.

2) He ranks second in international titles (18), behind only Lee Chang-ho (21). Despite this, he describes his opening play as "significantly weak".

3) In February 2013, Lee announced that he planned to retire within three years and move to the USA to promote Go. But obviously he didn't retire yet.

4) He became Pro Go player when he was only 13.

5) In year 2000, he has won 32 consecutive games and became the player of the year.
