After an eventful kickoff at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Spain, the Korean tech company Samsung has officially unveiled its prized smartphone lineup as this year's flagship: Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge.

So far, there are no radical distinctive features that would set the new handsets apart from Note, Galaxy S6, and S6 Edge Plus. Nevertheless, the new devices have an excellent array of features that would leave tech buffs excited.

Below are the confirmed specs, prices, and release dates in the UK:

  • Features- According to a report by PopSugar, S7 has a 5.1-inch screen. S7 Edge's 5.5-inch screen is slightly larger. Both handsets have a 12-megapixel rear-facing camera and a 5-megapixel front-facing camera. The devices also include an expandable memory that comes with a microSD slot with capacity up to 200GB. The Game Mode feature allows mobile gamers to optimize screen longer gaming experience minus the unwanted interruptions. Adding to the list of good stuff is its insane water and high-dust resistance feature owing to the phones' IP68 rating. The handsets also boast wireless charging, Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor (30% faster than S6), 32GB phone storage, and colors available in Gold Platinum, Black Onyx, and White Pearl. The S7 edge, on the other hand, will be available in Gold Platinum, Black Onyx, and Silver Titanium.
  • Release Date- As mentioned in a report by PC Advisor, the Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge can be available in pre-order purchases starting from February 21 at 7pm UK time. Meanwhile, as tech observers and analysts poured over their thoughts on Apple-Samsung rivalry in the smartphone war, most pundits would agree that there's not much discernible difference between the two. Samsung appears to be fast catching up with an impressive array of features.

But as the world awaits for the unveiling of iPhone 7 this fall, Apple comes out with its 3D touch feature which allows users to perform different actions based on tactile pressure when touching the screen display as reported by Newsweek.
