Leonardo DiCaprio dropped, momentarily, all his efforts in campaigning for The Revenant and may have 'seek a little divine intervention' as he come to visit the Pope at the Vatican on Thursday.

In a video and a report from LA Times, the 41-year old actor-environment activist had a quick chitchat with Pope Francis, who also shared the same passion with Leo and was previously lauded for 'lamenting climate change' and promoting the use of greener sources of energy rather than coal and fossil fuels.

"Your Holiness, thank you for granting me this private audience with you," the actor said in the opening of his meeting as mentioned in Huffington Post. He then kissed the Pope's ring as a sign of respect.

According to DiCaprio's rep, the two likeminded individuals are there to 'work together to address the immediate need for major action to stop the devastating impacts of climate change from leaving permanent scars on our planet.'

Leo's visit is highlighted with an exchange of gifts between him and the Church leader with the actor seen handing over an enormous book containing images of the works of 15th century Dutch painter Hieronymus Bosch.

Bosch's 'Garden of Earthly Delights' triggers sweet, childhood remembrances of the actor as his father hung a rendition of the painting near his crib when he was still a young boy. The actor also interprets the painting as a representation of the Pope's vision of 'the promise of the future and enlightenment.'

Leo also hand in a check with undisclosed amount in support of the Pope's charity projects that he valued most.

In turn, Pope Francis gave the actor red leather-bound copies of "Laudato Si" and "The Joy of the Gospel" and ask for prayers.

This week, the award-winning actor also had a stopover at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland where he received his Crystal Award for his environmental activism, according to Huffington Post.

Meanwhile, Vanity Fair expressed its cynicism on Leo's meeting in the Pope as it happened in the heights of the Oscar's selection week. The publication further said that the Pope may not be part of the selection committee for Best Actor but his influence is gold.

Previously, Angelina Jolie also rub elbows with the Pope while she was promoting Unbroken in which its main character has a strong Catholic faith.
