The first trailer for Warner Bros' Suicide Squad is finally here after months of publicity that Jared Leto is desperately gaining weight to successfully play The Joker. Aside from the singer-actor, the trailer dropped some major must-watched scenes, celebrities and the announcement of release date to look forward to.

The movie revolves takes the peg of an anti-hero-turned superhero as the deadliest convicts from prison, assassin Deadshot (Will Smith), insane bat-loving (but not Batman-loving) villainess Harley Quinn (Margot Robbie) and Aussie nutjob Captain Boomerang (Jai Courtney) were given the chance to redeem their names only if they can succeed in their mission to save the world, USA Today reported.

One can see that the major characters are in prison but are called upon by a government agent (Viola Davis) who set instructions for the team. Later on, the team will be meeting Enchantress (Cara Delevingne) whose mesmerizing looks cannot hide all the evil inside here.

And of course, they will be meeting The Joker, played by Jared Leto, who has some unfinished business with Harley Quinn.

Den of Geek said that Suicide Squad is strategically released this year with the release of another DC Comics-inspired movie, Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice. The reason for the release of these movies is to introduce more DC heroes and villains later. So, before the public can watch Justice League in 2017, we are being oriented with the superheroes in Batman v. Superman and the anti-heroes in Suicide Squad.

The release of these movies are also aimed at expanding the DC universe that has been produced by Warner Bros and Time Warner (TWX) aside from earlier movies like Man of Steel Caped Crusader, CNN said. And when these become extremely popular, it is hoped that, finally, they can be a good competitor with Disney's and Marvel's superhero films.

Suicide Squad will hit theaters in August 5 this year.
