Miss Universe host Steve Harvey's mistake met a lot of controversies after he wrongfully announced the name of the winner for this year's Miss Universe pageant initially declaring Miss Colombia as Miss Universe when the cue card reads Miss Philippines.

According to Daily Mail, the host's mistake of naming the wrong Miss Universe is 'a little too perfect' for some viewers with Miss Colombia, Ariadna Gutierrez taking the fiasco very lightly saying that 'everything happens for a reason.'

There were also rumors saying that the comedian blamed his mistake on the teleprompter which flashed the words 'Miss Universe-Colombia.'

Twittersville also pointed out that the publicity stunt will increase Steve Harvey's fame as well as Donald Trump, the pageant's former owner and now, co-owner of the beauty contest franchise.

'I'm convinced that the Miss Universe mistake is just a publicity stunt, then needed more attention after leaving Trump out.'

"Guaranteed Steve Harvey was paid generously to make that "mistake" on purpose. It's a publicity stunt. No one cares about Miss Universe," another Twitter user said.

The Miss Universe pageant is previously sold by Donald Trump to WME/IMG in September. The move was done after the presidential candidate spat mean comments against Latino migrants in the US causing NBCUniversal to decide to pull out the Miss USA pageant in the TV station, NY Daily News recalled.

As for Donald Trump, he spoke about the fiasco in his Twitter account.

"Very sad what happened last night at the Miss Universe Pageant. I sold it 6 months ago for a record price. This would never have happened!" he tweeted.

In another message, Trump said that the gaffe would not have happened if only he still have powers over the pageant.

"Very sad what happened last night at the Miss Universe Pageant. I sold it 6 months ago for a record price. This would never have happened!" he tweeted via USA Today.
