Pamela Anderson's enduring fight for animal rights has always been attached to her name since her Baywatch days in the 90s. Since then, she is a self-professed vegan and vegetarian and had included programs for animal welfare in her foundation.

Recently, the iconic blonde collaborated with French designer Amelie Pichard in creating a vegan shoe collection that will further strengthen her belief in protecting animal rights.

In an interview with Elle at the Opening Ceremony in Los Angeles, Anderson explained how she came up with the idea and how her vegan shoe collection is true to its cause.

"I've been trying to do my boot line for 20 years, but no one thought there could be a vegan luxury brand. So I funded this myself. I feel like now is the time. I feel like young people in particular are responding to this. Young people understand that you don't have to wear or eat animals. I get that it can be cheaper to use animal products-but using animals really cuts corners. We are really making an effort and being innovative. My boots use recycled electronics and recycled plastics from the ocean," she told the publication.

As for the French designer, Amelie Pichard told Vogue via Inquirer.net that she said that she has always adored the blonde bikini model since she was a kid.

"In 1992, Baywatch was on French TV. I was nine years old, and from that moment Pamela never stopped being a source of inspiration for me," the designer said.

Amelie further said that Pamela Anderson has been the source of inspiration to other business catering animal rights like Man Repeller's Leandra Medine.

"In the early days of my brand, I told my friends that I wanted Pamela Anderson to be the first celebrity to wear my brand. Pamela is my inspiration, and she has become my muse. She's starring in our campaign shot by David LaChapelle," the French designer announced during the opening ceremony.

To date, the Pichard-Anderson collection consists of 17 shoe design and a tote in black and white variety that costs between 490 to $950, is comprised of 17 shoe designs and a tote, available in black and white. They are said to expand starting January next year at the Colette and Ssense.

The proprietors also announced that proceeds of the shoe collection will all go to the Pamela Anderson Foundation and PETA.

Earlier in her life, Pamela Anderson used to be a fitness instructor before becoming a Baywatch model. She also made headlines when she married in 1994 in her bikinis with the rocker Tommy Lee in 1995. She also wrote letters to President Obama-one proposing the castration of pedophiles and the legalization of marijuana, according to PPCorn.
