Samsung and Apple have come out guns blazing with their latest phablet offerings, making choosing  between the two a tight rope walk for buyers.

Apple's entry into the phablet segment has been termed tad too late but with the response iPhone 6 received, Apple's offering- iPhone 6 Plus, is poised to outperform expectations. Its rival, Note 4, comes with baggage of past in the phablet segment, promising better overall experience. While software preferences make the choice a no-brainer, if you are out to get your first phablet, read on.

Difference in design of the two top-end phablets is easiest to ascertain. Apple iPhone 6 Plus is curved at the edges and beautifully designed but lacks overall curvature, and finish makes it difficult to hold in one hand. The protruding camera on the back does not help either, points out Forbes. Samsung Note 4 one the other hand has greater degree of curvature and is easy to hold in one hand though it is wider.

Both devices sport high resolution screens but Samsung comes on top with QHD (1440x2560p) AMOLED 5.7 inch screen, at least on paper. The Apple's full HD 5.5 display does enough to make sure there are no missing pixels. So the eye really cannot make out the difference in resolutions, reports The Times of India. Some applications and games do however show greater detail on the Note 4, making its high res screen a plus for enthusiasts.

Apple and Samsung have powered their devices with powerful hardware but Samsung comes out on top in specs. Note 4's 2.7 Ghz Snapdragon 805 process is a beast in every way and can muscle out iPhone 6 Plus 1.4 Ghz dual core process. However Apple's manta has always been superior hardware-software synchronization which makes its devices outperform the competition with minimal hardware. Apple's phablet undoubtedly offers fluid performance while Samsung's Note is meant for serious users who get through the day with multitasking.
