Pauley Perrette, known for her role as Abby Sciuto on the CBS show, "NCIS," was attacked near her home in Hollywood Hills Thursday night, the police reported.

Perette, 46, was confronted by a homeless man on the 6000 block of Cahuenga Terrace at around 5 p.m. The man, who is described as "psychotic," reportedly grabbed her and proceeded to punch her repeatedly. The culprit has been arrested.

Perrette recounted the scary incident on her verified twitter page Friday morning at around 1:30 a.m.

A part of her account reads:

"I was very hesitant about tweeting this, Tonight was an awful night. I was walking across my street to a new guest house I bought to meet my architect. On my street I was jumped by a VERY psychotic homeless man. He grabbed me so forcefully, pinned my arm, punched me in the nose, forehead repeatedly tell me he was going to kill me. Then he showed me how he was going to kill me."

The police have corroborated the actress's account. After the attack, Perrette stated that she contacted two of her friends, one of whom is a cop.

She continued, "I immediately drew a police sketch of the guy who was headed towards Hollywood Blvd with murder in his eyes. My pal James took a pic of my sketch, found the guy, surveilled him, the cops came and followed James to him. They got him. Felony assault."

According to the jail records, the suspect is 45-year-old David Merck, who the police say is a local transient. He was arrested on battery charges and is currently being held on $100,000 bail.

Despite the traumatic experience, Perrette ended her essay talking about the importance of helping the homeless and the mentally ill.
