According to Latino Post, the filming of "Fifty Shades Darker" has been delayed and the internet is rife with rumors that the fans may not be interested in the sequel of the film eventually. Follow up event of Fifty Shades of Grey was scheduled for 2017. However, due to postponing of the filming date, it may not be able to go as per their schedule. No official announcement has been made so far regarding the delay.

According to many rumors, the delay has been attributed to the change in production stage that has been altered entirely. Earlier, Sam Taylor Johnson was replaced by James Foley as the director. The reason for the change has been stated as creative differences between author E.L. James and Sam Taylor Johnson, reported The International Business Times. The director was reached out for comment but he did not respond to the news about the reported feud. She was the director of the first two movies in the franchise and confirmed that she will not participate in the sequels. She wished success to the new director who would be taking on the mantle. While the new script writer has been roped in, the production team does not have a casting director so far.

Dakota Johnson, who stars as Anastasia Steele, revealed on The Ellen DeGeneres Show that filming might begin early in 2016. She told DeGeneres that "We start sometime in the New Year,". However, she refrained from sharing why the filming has been postponed. She reassured that the fans will be able to see the second installment of their favorite movie soon. The first adaption of E.L. James book "Fifty Shades of Grey" has been a huge success at the box office.
