Being 116 years has made Susannah Mushatt Jones the world's oldest woman. She claims she holds the key to the secret that took her to her ripe old age.

A regular diet of eggs, grits and bacon for breakfast has made her reach this threshold, she feels. her kitchen sign reads "Bacon makes everything better," according to USA Today.

The bacon opposers are scientists, who feel that no evidence proves the link between bacon everyday and a long life.

So while her habits have kept her healthy and active, Dr. Thomas Perls, New England Centenarian Study at Boston Medical Center Director and Professor of Medicine at Boston Medical Center, feel that genes are the key.

"By no means should anyone, therefore, think that eating bacon is good for them because [Jones] eats bacon," Perls said, according to Live Science. He added that there is still no scientific evidence that supports the claim that people who eat bacon every day will have a longer existence.

Susannah is from Brooklyn, New York, and was born on July 6, 1899 and became the record holder for the oldest person in the world on June 17, 2015.

Even though she has lost her eyesight and has hearing problems, she is not laid up in bed and takes only a couple of medications every day, according to Guinness World Records.

More than 30 years ago, she began her daily diet of bacon when she shifted to a public housing complex of elderly people. Not just bacon but "lots of sleep" is the key to her long life. But she is still an active tenant security patrol till she became blind 15 years ago. However, she visits the doctor only three times a year, according to Inquisitr
