Grand Theft Auto 6 is rumored to be eyeing a 2017 release date. According to several reports, the game should be out by 2018, which is much earlier than the expected date since GTA games tend to take at least five years to develop. GTA 5 was released in September 2013.

Aside from the release date rumors, other ones are claiming that Eva Mendes and Ryan Gosling are going to be featured. GTA 6 is reportedly getting a huge demand for a lead female role.

"In the future, could we do a game with a lead female character? Of course, we just haven't found the right game for it yet, but it's one of the things we always think about," co-founder of Rockstar, Dan Houser, said previously reported by the Guardian in 2013.

The latest edition of the very violent game could also include a massive map that will include all of the United States.

"Imagine being able to go absolutely anywhere in Grand Theft Auto? That high-rise block of flats over there? What if users could scale it, entering the top apartment, rob it, then base jump out of the window, or perhaps even from the very top of the building?" What Culture wrote.

Kenny McDonnell of Movie Pilot explained why U.S. as the setting would be great only if Rockstar can perfect the details.

McDonnell wrote:

"Rockstar seem to be pretty set on the idea of GTA being set in America though. Everything the series is a pastiche of originates in the States and I suppose they feel like the franchise just wouldn't work outside of its borders.

Having the entirety of the country be the location in GTA 6 would be pretty incredible. We saw The Crew attempt this last year though and it really didn't work. However, Ubisoft created a bland USA, with little to no life in every city that it attempted to recreate. Rockstar would do a far better job of bringing the USA to life."

Rockstar is most likely working on Red Dead Redemption 2 at the moment.
