Michael Bay still has not agreed to direct "Transformers 5," Deadline reported. The director did tweet on Sept. 17 that he is discussing the movie with Steven Spielberg.

Per Deadline:

"It's pencils down for the Transformers Writers Room; the experiment has concluded and the early results are in. Akiva Goldsman has walked away with a concrete blueprint to write a Transformers sequel for Mark Wahlberg to star in for Michael Bay to direct, with production starting in June. Ant-Man scribes Andrew Barrer & Gabriel Ferrari will head off and write an animated feature, an origin story that focuses on Cybertron, the planet from which the good and bad Transformer robots hail."

Mark Wahlberg starred in 2014's "Transformer Age of Extinction." The movie, which failed to get good reviews, still performed extremely well in the box office. The plan for the fifth movie is include more intriguing characters. There have been some plot predictions so far.

According to voice actor, Mark Ryan (via We Got This Covered), Optimus Prime might be successful in finding their creators, which would then lead to the introduction of the Quintessons. The Quintessons are responsible for creating the Autobots and the Decepticons. In another report, writer Ehren Kruger hinted to the possibility of introducing Unicron, one of the biggest and most intimidating villains in the universe.

"The only thing I do keep talking about that seems too big until we find the right stories for it -- or the way to make it make sense -- is the Unicron character from the mythology, who is a planet-size Transformer", Kruger said (via iSchool Guide). "It's not that it's too big, just that it'll be onscreen whenever we figure out how to make it visually interesting and amazing."

Even though everything is still in the early stages and not much has been decided on, Deadline reported that everyone involved felt that the experimental writing room session was worth it.

Deadline continued:

"It was an investment of low seven figures paid to all those writers to script treatments. I'm told that everyone involved, including the writers, felt it was money and time well spent. The writers did not turn it into a competition, and they collaborated and explored just about every possible angle to broaden the Transformers universe and come up with possible movies. Considering that the last Transformers grossed $1.4 billion worldwide, the cost of this was pittance. Just as important, the results got Spielberg and Bay excited, which is no small feat considering they've been with the movie since its inception and have plenty of other things to capture their passion."

If the production for the movie is a go, "Transformer 5" will be released in 2017.
