The fate of Jon Snow, played by Kit Harington, has been questioned nonstop ever since the "Games of Thrones" season five finale.

Even though the show's producer, D.B Weiss, Harington and Maisie Williams, who plays Snow's younger sister Arya Stark have all stated that Snow died after being stabbed by the men of the Night's Watch, fans have refused to give up hope. However, after this past Sunday's Emmys award show, the possibility that Snow might be alive in George R.R. Martin's books, which the show is based on, and dead in the HBO show seems more and more real.

During the award show, host Andy Samberg jokingly said that Martin, the author behind the "A Song of Ice and Fire" series, told him about Snow's fate.

"Thanks for telling me during the commercial that Jon Snow is alive," Samberg said. All Martin does is laugh in reaction to the comment, while in the background, co-producer, David Benioff just shakes his head. Even though this movement can be interpreted in so many ways, it seems like Benioff is shaking his head in a "give-up on Jon Snow" sort of way.

Regardless of how you interpret it, viewers will not know if Snow lives until season six airs. However, Watchers on the Wall has reported that Harington was seen filming a battle scene, so there might be some hope after all.

Martin has previously hinted that he had long-term plans for Snow, which means that Snow could be alive or revived from the dead in his sixth book, "Winds of Winter."

"Yes, I always had plans, what Tyrion's arc was gonna be through this, what Arya's arc was gonna be through this, what Jon Snow's arc is gonna be," Martin had said before Snow was seemingly killed off from the HBO show.

"Games of Thrones" season six will premiere sometime next spring. "Winds of Winter" is supposed to be released next year as well.
