Wife of Hollywood star George Clooney is not just an elegant woman, who mesmerizes the public with her beauty and style, she is also a successful human rights lawyer. Since her marriage to long-time bachelor George Clooney almost a year ago, Mrs. Clooney has been increasingly attracting the public attention with her elegant style, as well as her high-profile clients.

Now, British Justice Minister Edward Faulks claims that Mrs Clooney is given such top cases mainly due to the fact that she is married to the Hollywood star. During a book launch, Faulks said: 'I am sure she gets such high-profile cases and everyone wants her because she is married to George Clooney; and by employing her they will give publicity to their case,' Daily Mail reported.

Faulks also added that something similar happened with Cherie Blair, who is the wife of former British Prime Minister Tony Blair and also a barrister, when she was given top cases. 'I mean, look at Cherie Blair: being married to Tony Blair did not do her career any harm,' he added.

The criticism came right after Clooney lost one of her top cases; a press freedom case in Egypt, which was concluded with the sentencing of Canadian journalist Mohamed Fahmy for threes years jail time.

Clooney was last seen heading to the Maldives for her other top case, defending the former leader of the Maldives, who is now being accused with acts of terrorism by the current government.

'I heard her speak after the court case defending journalists who were convicted in Egypt and, If I'd have closed my eyes, I'd have never placed her because she has this new-age media trendy accent. I can tell you, they weren't like that when I was a barrister,' Faulks continued.

It is important to note that Faulks is not the only one who claims Clooney is able to get her top cases thanks to her husband. It looks like many other people agree with the sentiment that the 37-year-old lawyer probably gets more than she really deserves. Jonathan Ames, who is the editor of the law website Legal Cheek noted:''There are plenty of clever lawyers out there, many with considerably more impressive human rights records than Amal Clooney, but her intellectual and professional muscle-and even her base sex appeal- is nothing compared to one fact: she married a Hollywood heart-throb called George,' Daily Mail reported.
