Strangely, about 43 per cent of Republican voters believe that U.S. President Barack Obama is a Muslim, while 20 percent of adults think he is foreign-born---even after 8 years of his Presidency!

This was discovered in a new poll conducted on Sunday by CNN/ORC  The survey was conducted among 1,012 adults through the telephone, from Sept. 4 to 8.

It finds that though many believe that he was born outside the United States, majority of Americans do believe that he was born inside.

The numbers are quite interesting and point to quirky beliefs. Hence, while 80 per cent adults said he was born within the U.S., 20 percent think that he was born outside. A 9 percent feel that there is evidence of it and 11 percent of the beliefs are based on their suspicions, according to CNN.

It was a similar finding in 2010, when the President produced a birth certificate to show that he was born in Hawaii at a time when another poll was being run.

In his certified long-form birth certificate, he was shown to be born on August 4, 1961, at Kapiolani Hospital in Honolulu, according to hngn.

President Obama---for those who still aren't too sure---is Christian.
