The most used photo editing app has now introduced the landscape mode shooting for its users.

The new layout has addition to its signature square for pictures and videos in a bid to attract more advertisers and to stop users defecting to more flexible services such a snapchat.

The company has started the landscape and portrait formats for both the app on the Android platform as well as the iOS platform, giving both the users and the paying advertisers more options.

Debra Aho Williamson, a social media and market analyst said, "It boils down to giving advertisers and users more options. You want people to be able to see more of your ad. Its something advertisers are definitely going to be interested in.".

Further she added, "Friends get cut out of group shots, the subject of your video feels cramped and you cant capture the Golden Gate Bridge from end to end".

The companies move to introduce the two new features is definitely going to amplify the popularity and the revenues gained from its advertisers. On the other hand, it is anticipated to give a hard blow to its rivals such as Snapchat.

Instagram is expected to generate revenue of nearly $600 million in advertising revenue by the end of this year, and $2.8 billion in 2017, according to projections by the research firm eMarketer.
