With the range of advertisements that had flooded Facebook for the donations, the company had introduced the 'Donate Now' option to facilitate the users with the option to donate to the non profit organizations directly without and trouble.

In 2013, the company had introduced the 'donate now' option. However, the donations could be made only to certain well established non profit organizations like the American Cancer Society and the Red Cross. The company had partnered with the non profit organizations and the donations could take place with the link to the organizations page or a link in the advertisements.

Facebook spokesperson said, "Every day, people use Facebook to raise awareness and support for causes they care about and to motivate others to do the same. We are inspired by how much good comes from these connections, so we have added 'Donate Now' calls-to-action on Pages and link ads to make those connections easier".

However, it is to be noted that the donations would take place independent of Facebook's involvement. When you click 'Donate now' button on an NGO's page, you are first alerted that the organization is 'not endorsed by or affiliated with Facebook', and then redirected to the page's external site where you can complete the donation.
