Disney has released the first trailer and a poster of their latest live-action movie "Cinderella," which is slated to hit theaters in March 2015.

The movie is directed by Kenneth Branagh and stars Lily James of the Downtown Abbey and "Wrath of the Titans" fame as Cinderella, Richard Madden of "game of Thrones" stars as the prince and Cate Blanchett portrays the evil stepmother.

Helena Bonham Carter, who starred as the evil "Bellatrix" in the "Harry Potter" series, is playing the Fairy Godmother and a funny and sarcastic one at that.

The synopsis of the story by Disney reads:

"The story of "Cinderella" follows the fortunes of young Ella (Lily James) whose merchant father remarries following the death of her mother. Eager to support her loving father, Ella welcomes her new stepmother (Cate Blanchett) and her daughters Anastasia (Holliday Grainger) and Drisella (Sophie McShera) into the family home.

But, when Ella's father unexpectedly passes away, she finds herself at the mercy of a jealous and cruel new family. Finally relegated to nothing more than a servant girl covered in ashes, and spitefully renamed Cinderella..."

The story hinges on the fabled story where Cinderella meets the prince in the woods and is then forbidden by her stepmother and stepsisters to go to the palace for the grand ball. However, her fairy godmother comes to her aid, turns some friendly mice into white horses and a pumpkin into a golden chariot. Also, Cinderella's glass slippers are super comfortable apparently!

Cinderella goes to the ball, runs away as the clock strikes 12 leaving her glass slipper and a smitten prince behind, who will go on to find her later.
