In May, she was expecting quadruplets.

So what, you might ask. Well, she was 65 years old.

It's three months since Annegret Raunigk gave birth to premature quadruplets. And finally, all five can go home now, according to mummypages. Raunigk had a daughter and three sons, each weighing beween 1.4kg and 2 kg at birth.

All four babies - a girl named Neeta, and three boys: Dries, Bence and Fjonn - were delivered prematurely by Cesarean section on May 19 during Raunigk's 26th week of pregnancy, according to people.

At first they feared that the babies would not survive.

They have gone through a series of procedures since they were born. The daughter Neeta went through surgery to repair a hole in her bowel, while her son Dries underwent surgery for fluid in the brain.

Shortly after their birth, two babies were given breathing support, and two underwent surgery.

But now, the Neonatology Department at Berlin's Charite Hospital confirmed that all four babies will be home by the end of August.

Professor Christoph Buhrer said: "All have developed well, they have grown wonderfully in a short time."

Strangely, Annegret has 13 other children aged between 10 and 44 years from five fathers. She also has seven grandchildren, so her newest children are younger than her grandchildren!

She said that she had decided to have another child as her youngest daughter wanted a younger sibling.

In order to get pregnant, she went to Ukraine in order to get "donated, fertilized eggs implanted", which was not legal in Germany.

Her pregnancy raised a moral outrage all over the world, but Annegret has been firm. "Everyone should live as they want to but everyone, it seems, has something to say about this," she said, shortly after announcing her pregnancy.

"This is not about egotism and it is not selfishness. I like children - they keep me young. You get more tolerant the older you get."

Also, she has been married just once, according to dailymail. She has had her children from five fathers---not counting the donated sperm---but she doesn't think much of men and says '"there aren't many who would fit the bill" in helping to raise her new children.

"My experience with men was that I never found the right one," she said.

In 2005, she gave birth to her daughter Leila, and was called Germany's Eldest Mum. However, now there are hot debates on whether she is "a feminist icon...or a freak".

"I would never dream of telling anyone to do this or that. I am looked after, consulted, observed. I am fit and I am ready to have these babies and to care for them."
