Rihanna will team up with The Voice coaches as she will act as key adviser for all of them in the singing competition's upcoming Season 9.

According to Reality TV World, the announcement was first made on Thursday by NBC Entertainment Chairman Robert Greenblatt.

"We landed Rihanna to be the key adviser to all the coaches this fall. This is one of music's true supervisors coming on board to influence the lives and careers of the performers," Greenblatt told reporters.

The role as key adviser would mean that RiRi will give equal support among the four judges: Blake Shelton, Adam Levine, Pharrell Williams and Gwen Stefani during the Knockout Rounds.

The songstress will also be taking Taylor Swift's place who acted as key adviser last season.

As to why The Voice bosses are choosing Rihanna, here are a couple of reasons that Parade has come up with.

First, RiRi's badass but honest image is seen to be a contributing factor to the success of The Voice contestants.

""Honesty is the ultimate liberation in life," as she once said in a 2011 Facebook post.

Her strong, unique sense of fashion and high audience engagement in her past performances are surely a plus for the show to get high ratings.

Contestants will also benefit from her broad knowledge in music which she may use to give smart song selections for contestants.

The Barbadian singer is expected to be present in all episodes of Season 9. However, an article in Bustle speculated that she might not be around all the time due to her busy schedules.

The Voice Season 9 will start on September 21, 8:00 PM Eastern Time on NBC.
