A six month old pregnant woman from Canada got the green light from her doctor to travel to Hawaii and so she did. Unfortunately, she went into early labor just two days into the vacation causing her to stay in the hospital for two-months and she was left with a $950,000 medical bill, according to reports.

Jennifer Huculak and her husband Darren Kimmel of Saskatchewan, Canada went to Hawaii for a beach vacation in October 2013, CTV News reports.

Her water broke just two days into the vacation and Huculak was airlifted from Maui to a hospital in Honolulu, where she had to remain on bed rest for six weeks, The Toronto Sun reports.

Luckily, after the whole ordeal, Huculak and Kimmel were finally able to return home to Canada with their healthy baby girl. However, they were also left with an astounding $950,000 medical bill that Blue Cross is still refusing cover.

"We thought we had done everything right," Huculak told CBC. "We thought we had covered all avenues and we thought we were covered. We thought we were safe to go."

"We are unable to provide coverage for any medical expenses incurred for Ms. Huculak's baby," a Saskatchewan Blue Cross representative wrote in a December 2013 letter to Honolulu-based Kapi'olani Medical Center, where Huculak was treated. "As Ms. Huculak's emergency medical claim has been denied on the basis that her medical emergency is excluded from coverage under the terms of her pre-existing condition provision, her baby is also not eligible for coverage."

In a statement to CTV News, Blue Cross said of the case, "We review each claim carefully and are confident that our decision to decline this claim was done in a considered manner based on the contract terms, the situation which resulted in this emergency medical claim, and a review of recent medical history."
