The Indianapolis Colts have re-signed wide receiver T.Y Hilton to a five-year, $65 million contract extension. Hilton had one year remaining on his contract.

"It's a great day for the Indianapolis Colts, T.Y. Hilton and his family," Colts general manager Ryan Grigson said in a statement. "We're extremely happy as an organization to ensure that T.Y. will continue to be a part of our journey for many years to come. His daily excellence on and off the field is a shining example of an individual striving for greatness and what it truly means to be a Colt."

Hilton's agent, Drew Rosenhaus, who was in town over the past few days, tweeted his determination to get a deal completed.

ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter reported that the extension includes $39 million in guarantees, which is nearly doubled the amount of guaranteed money in all of the other players' contracts. Quarterback Andrew Luck, who has $22.1 million in guaranteed money, is second on that list.

The 2012 third-round draft pick finished the 2014-15 season with 82 receptions for 1,345 yards and seven touchdowns. He also made his first Pro Bowl appearance. In three seasons, he has totaled 214 receptions for 3,289 yards and 19 touchdowns.

Hilton's contract is comparable to the contracts signed by the league's other top receivers, Demaryius Thomas and Dez Bryant. Thomas has $45 million and Bryant has $43.5 million in guaranteed money. The only receiver who has more is Calvin Johnson with $53.2 million.

The Colts will be opening the preseason this Sunday, Aug. 16 against the Philadelphia Eagles.
