Lee Daniels, the co-creator of Fox's hit drama, "Empire," revealed that there will definitely be a spin-off show about Cookie.

"There is going to be a spin-off from Empire, without question," Daniels said on Thursday at the Television Critics Association panel. "There's so much ripe story that we've talked about already, about Cookie's family, what makes her her. That in itself is fascinating to me and stuff that I can get to."

Brian Grazer, the executive producer, previously stated that in order for a spin-off to work and be successful, it cannot "get corny" and must "completely stay authentic."

"As long as it stays dangerous, we're cool. As long as we can stay that way for this season, these guys can think about a spin-off, we'll be OK," Grazer added.

In the meantime, fans caught a glimpse of what they can expect for season 2 of "Empire" in the newly released trailer. In the clip, Lucious Lyon (Terrence Howard) sits in prison while his family tries to take over his music label company.

He says to his ex-wife Cookie Lyon (Taraji P. Henson), who is visiting him in prison, "I never stopped loving you. I tried. It never went away."

The trailer also reveals Lucious pitting Jamal (Jussie Smollet) against eldest son, Andre (Trai Byers). Andre appears to be working with his mother, Cookie, youngest brother Hakeem (Bryshere Y. Gray) and Lucious' ex-fiancée, Anika (Grace Gealey).

"Empire" returns on Sept. 23 at 9 p.m. ET.
