Millions of people are about to have their deepest and darkest secrets revealed at the hands of hackers.

According to the latest reports, the group that hacked AshleyMadison.com, a website that encourages users to engage in affairs, is threatening to release the private information of the site's 37 million users. The information could include names, credit card numbers and personal sexual fantasies.

The hackers, known as the Impact Team, Brian Krebs, a computer security blogger, revealed reported by TechWorm, allegedly wants the website to be closed down by its owner, Avid Life Media. Krebs was the one who reported on the cyber attack. He has allegedly checked and verified some of the data that was stolen.

Avid Life Media reportedly responded very quickly to the hack. The owner has taken down and removed the data that the Hackers accessed. In the midst of all of these issues between the owner and the hackers, spammers have been flooding different websites with links claiming to have information on the users.

"Spammers will always try to abuse any trend to get some free exposure, and this Ashley Madison leak is no exception," Jeroen Vader who runs the Pastebin website said. "It is hard for us to remove everything, but we do actively search for such posts."

Some of the real links were posted on Pastebin. However, Avid Life Media was quick to delete them. Since then, no new legitimate link with real data has been posted.

An investigation carried out by BBC News concluded that the links involve false information, scam pages and malware.
