Meryl Streep, once again, proved how versatile she could get in the upcoming film "Ricki and the Flash."

In its teaser, the three-time award winner rocks and slams her guitar and performs a cover from Tom Petty, Lady Gaga and Bruce Springsteen songs among others with her soulmate and song mate 80s rocker, Rick Springfield and their band.

In a report from Deadline, it is said that Streep's latest movie revolves around the uneventful life of Ricki, a part time checker at a Whole Foods Grocery who, one day, receives a notice of a family emergency.

She will then face the new life of her children who are all grown-up now whom she has abandoned years ago to lead a life of a musician. She will then be meeting her older daughter (who happens to be her biological daughter), Julie (Gummer) who have suicidal thoughts because of a nasty divorce, and her brothers played by Sebastian Stan and Nick Westgate.

Ricki will also be meeting her ex, Kevin Kline, who still felt sparks with her but cannot put his intentions forward due to her unforgiving oldest daughter.

Streep, according to the news source, had received real guitar lessons from rocker Bruce Springsteen and rock legend Neil Young to make her act very realistic.

Her guitar skills as far as actually playing - probably a 3. But what she brings, people don't realize how hard it is what she did. Every time the camera's on her, she's on the right chord. She knows what she's doing. So it's absolutely remarkable that she does what she does," Streep's co-star, Rick Springfield, said in an interview with People.

Meanwhile, Springfield, related how he get the slot being the actress' lead man. In an interview with AV Club, he said that basically, the filmmakers, watched him and Meryl Streep with the rest of the band, play and check if they've got good chemistry.

"...they basically wanted to see me play guitar in a band with [Streep]. They wanted to see what our chemistry was like and how we looked together. So that was kind of easy for me not having to go through the whole audition with a scene in a cold room, which I hate. Actually every actor does. But they saw that I could play the guitar and they liked our chemistry together," he said.

Ricki and the Flash is directed by Jonathan Demme and written by Diablo Cody.
