Brad Pitt Angelina Jolie Updates: Couple Including Son Maddox In An Upcoming Film About Cambodia Film Set To Help Son 'Understand Who He Is'

Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie are cooking up a new movie based on human-rights activist Loung Ung's 2000 memoir, First They Killed My Father: A Daughter of Cambodia Remembers that was previously aired on Netflix.

Aside from the fact that it will be directed by Jolie herself, the film will also include Brad and Angie's adopted kid, 14-year old Maddox, ET said.

As Maddox and I prepare the film we will be side by side learning about his country. He is turning 14 next week and this is a very important time for him to understand who he is. He is my son but he is also a son of Cambodia. This is the time for our family to understand all that that means to him and to us," he told the Associated Press.

The movie is said to strive likeness with the book that tells the story of the struggles of Cambodians who in the Khmer regime which has caused the death of nearly two million.

"My desire to tell this story in the most truthful and accurate way possible will be my tribute to the strength and dignity of all Cambodian people.

The Tomb Raider star also said that the film will be based on thorough research that can give justice to the suffering of the main character Loung Ung and the rest of the affected citizens.

The 40-year old actress had long since felt in love with Cambodia since 2002 when the box office hit Tomb Raider was filmed there. It was also in those times when he found the 7-month old Maddox in an orphanage and decided to adopt him.

"I feel a deep connection to Cambodia. I want to respect its history and bring a film to the world that will not only show the hardships of war but the dignity and resilience of a people I deeply respect," Angie said in an interview as reported by US News.

Meanwhile, Brad Pitt's wife previously learned on May that Maddox already has a British girlfriend whom Angie has no trouble accepting, Yahoo News said.

"She's great. I won't embarrass him. She's lovely. She lives in England. She's very cool."
