Bobbi Kristina Brown, the daughter of the late Whitney Houston and Bobby Brown, passed away on Sunday after months of being in medical care. Bobbi Kristina, who was staying at the Peachtree Christian Hospice in Atlanta, Georgia, was 22-years-old.

"Bobbi Kristina Brown passed away July, 26 2015, surrounded by her family. She is finally at peace in the arms of God. We want to again thank everyone for their tremendous amount of love and support during these last few months," Kristen Foster, a representative for the Houston family said Sunday.

The statement added that Bobbi Kristina "made her transition peacefully."

Bobbi Kristina's body will be autopsied, the authorities stated on Monday. Since Bobbi Kristina was found face-down and unresponsive in a bathtub at her townhouse, the police have launched an investigation. Bobbi Kristina reportedly had signs of possible abuse when she was found.

The authorities noted that the time that has elapsed would complicate the investigation.

"Interpretation of autopsy findings and other information will also be challenging," the medical examiner's office said. "However, an autopsy could be helpful to address questions which may arise about the cause of her unresponsiveness and eventual death."

The investigation was handed over to the Fulton County district attorney's office in June. The office would decide whether or not criminal charges have to be filed. Nick Gordon, Bobbi Kristina's boyfriend/finance is a suspect in the case. Since the incident, Gordon has added an attorney to his legal team.

No details were released in regards to the time frame of the autopsy.
