The Simpsons, the popular television show that has been on air for more than 20 years, is seeking to capitalize on the popularity of its fictional Duff brand beer, and making it a reality.

The Wall Street Journal reports that the beer, hawked by Duff Man for loyal Springfield drinkers like Homer Simpson, Barney Gumble and the other regulars down at Moe's Tavern, will soon be available in Chile.

Previously, many brewers have tried to create Duff Beer, but as soon as the lawyers at 21st Century Fox, which creates and owns the rights to the show, got wind of the brewing, they would shut down any upstart trying to capitalize on the popularity of the brand.

The beer will debut in Chile first because there were so many counterfeit brewers of the beer that 21st Century Fox decided that if you can't beat them, join them, in order to lower the amount of money they spent pursuing the issue in court. After debuting in Chile, it will appear in other South American markets before arriving in Europe.

Now, after experience a change of heart, perhaps because of the wild popularity of microbrews throughout the United States and world, 21st Century Fox decided it wouldn't be such a bad idea if they were to start selling beer under the Duff brand.

The packaging of the beer will be an exact replica of the packaging seen on the iconic television series, and the 21st Century Fox has already hired a brewmaster to begin working on and perfecting the formula for the future Duff beer.

The beer will most likely sell very well given the fact that The Simpsons is the longest-running scripted television show in history and that at any time of day, 365 days a year, there is an episode of the Simpsons airing somewhere on Earth, according to the Journal.
