Free agent DeAndre Jordan has reportedly walked away from his deal with the Dallas Mavericks in order to resign with the Los Angeles Clippers, league sources reported.

The sources informed ESPN.com that since the Clippers were worried the Jordan was not set on one team, they decided to sit by his side until he can legally sign the new contract. His contract with the Clippers is reportedly four-years, worth more than $87 million.

Jordan agreed to sign a four-year, $80 million max deal with the Mavericks once he became a free agent. Reports claimed that Jordan did not appreciate being third on the Clippers after Chris Paul and Blake Griffin. He also did not want to stay in LA if Blake Griffin's future with the team was not set.

ESPN.com wrote:

"Before Jordan made the decision to join the Mavs, he and Griffin spoke several times. Sources close to the situation said Jordan was concerned about Griffin being traded in the next two years because the Clippers have continued to fail in the playoffs.... Jordan asked Griffin about his future. Griffin told him to make his own decision, sources said, and that he'd support him with whatever he decided. When Jordan called Griffin to tell him that he'd chosen the Mavericks, Griffin said he was happy for him if he was happy with his own decision.

On Monday, though, Jordan called Griffin again and said he'd been having second thoughts about his decision over the weekend. Griffin urged him to call [Doc] Rivers, who then began calling Clippers players and organizing a meeting Wednesday, in the hopes of getting Jordan to change his mind before the leaguewide moratorium ends at midnight.

Griffin flew to Houston on Tuesday to have dinner with Jordan, sources said."

Another source is also claiming that Jordan contacted the Clippers first.

"He reached out to us and said I changed my mind. There was no convincing here," the source said.

Marc Stein with ESPN.com reported that Paul and Griffin, as well as the Clippers' coaching and organization staff, met with Jordan to discuss his future in L.A.

ESPN.com's Chris Broussard reported that Paul, who cut his vacation with Dwanye Wade and LeBron James short to attend Wednesday's meeting, was very emotional. Paul allegedly told Jordan that they were "brothers" and that he did not know Jordan felt negative energy while playing with him. Paul said that he would work harder to get Jordan more involved in the offense before adding that the Clippers would not be able to move forward without him.

The Clippers have not been able to find a big man to replace Jordan during the offseason. They did add more shooters in veteran Paul Pierce and Lance Stephenson. Pierce also tweeted an image of Jordan signing with the Clippers. The caption read, "That's why they brought me here lol."

Sources added Wednesday that Jordan has stopped taking calls and text messages from the Mavericks. Mavericks owner Mark Cuban was reportedly trying very hard to locate Jordan's home in Houston in order to talk to him but had no success. Before the signing, Cuban was already telling members of the organization that Jordan will not be coming to Dallas.

Free agents are often considered off limits once they have agreed to a new contract before the NBA moratorium is lifted on July 9.
