Report: Expect More Tizen Phones From Samsung This Year

Samsung plans to launch more handsets running Tizen operating system, according to a new report by Reuters. Tizen OS has been developed by Samsung and runs on variety of devices including smartphones, tablets, in-vehicle infotainment (IVI) devices, smart TVs, PCs, smart cameras, wearable computing etc.

Citing a person, familiar to the matter, Reuters reported that the company will launch several Tizen smartphones at varying prices.

Tizen is aims to build an ecosystem for Samsung, as it powers company's smartwatches and premium television sets.

First Tizen smartphone was Z1 which was launched in India, in January 2015. In India, it has sold 1 million units of Z1. The device is also available in Sri Lanka and Bangladesh.

Reportedly, Z1 was the best-selling smartphone in Bangladesh in January-March.

Samsung did not comment on the matter.
