Jimmy Fallon, the host of the "Tonight Show," has been hospitalized in New York City due to a hand injury. Taping for Friday's show has been cancelled.

The New York Daily News reported that Fallon, 40, suffered a very bad fall that required minor surgery on his hand. The gossip website, TMZ, however, reported that the TV personality was being treated in the intensive care unit (ICU).

On Thursday night, after the show's taping, Fallon grabbed dinner at Scalinatella, which is located on the Upper East Side. He reportedly left the restaurant at around 9 p.m. and headed home. In the early hours, Fallon hurt himself and was checked in at the hospital.

He will be making a full recovery, his rep revealed. It is unclear how he hurt himself and how severe the injury is.

"Hey guys - unfortunately tonight's taping has been cancelled due to Jimmy injuring his hand," the tweet fro the "Tonight Show's" official feed read. "He's totally fine but we'll be airing a repeat."

Ticket holders have been told that they could reschedule. Someone from the show will be in contact with the ticket holders.

The "Tonight Show" was scheduled to go on a two-week break starting Monday. This break will give Fallon a lot of time to recover.
