Afghanistan and Taliban likely to meet shortly

After the Taliban led attacks in Afghanistan and the attacks stalled by the Taliban groups on the Afghan's Parliament House, the Advisor on National Security and Foreign Affairs for Afghanistan, Sartaj Aziz has confirmed that the Afghan government is likely to meet the Taliban representatives very shortly.

The Afghan government and the Taliban representatives had met previously on several occasions. However, Khaama Press reported that, Sartaj Aziz has stated that a major breakthrough is expected within three months.

Sartaj Aziz even stated that the National Assembly's Foreign Affairs Committee that Pakistan earlier facilitated a meeting between Afghan High Peace Council's Secretary Masoom Stanekzai and Taliban representatives in the Chinese city of Urumqi.

However, the exact schedule and the location of the proposed meeting between Afghan government and Taliban have not yet been revealed. But according to sources, the meeting is likely to take place in China, Norway, United Arab Emirates and Qatar since most of the meetings have been held in these countries.
