Google's home automation unit Nest has introduced an all-new line-up of products, and a new app to control all of them.

Software for Nest Learning Thermostat and Nest Protect smoke detectors has been also updated to provide safety temperature alerts if the house get too hot or cold. The new software has also support for multi-zoned home. Up to 20 thermostats can be connected that can share data among themselves to conserve energy costs around the house.

"Everyone's talking about connected-this and Internet-of-Things-that," Mr Tony Fadell said, referring to the Internet of Things network that links physical objects to software. "We have been doing it longer than anyone else, and we want to show what it takes to really do it properly."

Nest Protect, according to the company is now 11 percent smaller and includes new features like split spectrum sensor to identify slow or fast moving fires.

Nest has also unveiled Nest Cam, a home camera system that could easily let you monitor activities with your smartphone or tablet. The video cam, which comes with a new magnetic base, captures 1080p video over Wi-Fi. It's also secured with a unique 2048-bit RSA key, and will transmit using 128-bit SSL, PhoneArena reported.

The company is also piloting the ability for users to stream directly to YouTube with the Nest Cam.

The Nest app is now version 5.0 and is available for both iOS and Android.
