Despite the fact Ichabod's wife has just returned from purgatory, many fans still want to see Ichabod (Tom Mison) and Abbie (Nicole Beharie) together. Well "Ichabie" fans, hold your horses.

"Their relationship is at the core of everything we do," executive producer Mark Goffman said of Abbie and Ichabod at the Television Critics Association's summer press tour, according to TVLine.

He added according to TV Guide, "There are going to be some real trust issues [this season].

"We saw that Crane had betrayed Abbie's trust in redrawing the map to Purgatory."

In addition, Beharie isn't in a hurry to see the show's co-stars become romantic.

"I think it's interesting and kind of fun ... that she has a relationship with a man, but it's not romantic," she said per TVLine. "She's not defined by some sexual [desire]. She's unearthing all these things about her past and her history through this person who seems like he shouldn't be in her life."

At the TCA press tour Goffman and "Sleepy Hollow" co-creator Alex Kurtzman discussed Icabod's current state. When we last left Sleepy Hollow Ichabod's son helped put him in a coffin right after revealing that he'd been the Season 1 bad guy. Goffman explains Ichabod won't be emerging from the coffin anytime soon.

"It's been harder than we thought to get him out," Goffman said.

"We spent so much time to get him in the ground," Kurtzman added. "What we didn't want to do is just get him right out and make it feel easy."

As for the new/old couple in the show - Tom and Katrina (Katia Winter) - they seem to be in for even more surprises after the season finale shocker.

"We're going to drop a few bombs this season with Crane and Katrina," Goffman said according to TVLine. "We're going to find out a few things that neither of them could possibly be prepared for."

"Sleepy Hollow" returns Monday, Sept. 22 at 9/8c on FOX.
