The police have launched an investigation after publishing company Random House discovered that a copy of the new Grey novel had gone missing.

The incident has led to fears that the book may be sold on the black market or the thieves might end up selling extracts to the press.

When questioned on the issue, a spokesperson from Random House said, "We have no comment to make due to an ongoing police investigation."

The new book is set to be published on 18th June which is - Christian's Birthday. The book retells the story of the first instalment of the hit trilogy, this time from Christian Grey's viewpoint.

The author decided to write the book after she received requests from thousands of readers.

She said, "Christian is a complex character and readers have always been fascinated by his desires and motivations, and his troubled past," she said.

"Also, as anyone who has ever been in a relationship knows, there are two sides to every story."

She added, "It's been a great pleasure to return to my happy place-writing, being with Christian and Ana in their universe, and working with the fantastic team at Vintage."
